Golden opportunity to serve the nation as a Commissioned Officer in the Indian Air Force (IAF). The IAF has officially released the AFCAT 02/2025 notification for recruitment in the Flying Branch and Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical) Branches. The application window opens from 2nd June 2025 and closes on 1st July 2025 Courses begin in July 2026

Eligibility Criteria for AFCAT 02/2025

Nationality: Indian citizen under the Citizenship Act, 1955.

Age Limit (as on 01 July 2026):

  • Flying Branch: 20–24 years (02 July 2002 – 01 July 2006)
  •   Up to 26 years for CPL holders.
  • Ground Duty (Tech/Non-Tech): 20–26 years (02 July 2000 – 01 July 2006)

Educational Qualifications:

Flying Branch:

  • 10+2 with 50% in Physics and Math.
  • Graduation (any discipline) with 60% OR BE/BTech with 60%.

Ground Duty (Technical):

  • AE(L) / AE(M): 10+2 with 50% in Physics and Math + 4-year Engineering degree OR AMIE sections A & B with 60%.

Ground Duty (Non-Technical):

  • WS Branch: Same as Flying eligibility.
  • Admin/Logistics: Graduation in any discipline with 60%.
  • Accounts: B.Com or Finance-related degree with 60%.
  • Education: PG with 50% + Graduation with 60%.
  • Meteorology: B.Sc. (with Physics and Maths) OR Engineering degree with 60%.

Key Dates:

  • Online Registration Starts: 02 June 2025 (from 11:00 AM)
  • Last Date to Apply: 01 July 2025 (till 11:30 PM)
  • AFCAT Exam Date: To be announced
  • Training Begins: July 2026 at Air Force Academy, Hyderabad

Salary & Perks in Indian Air Force:

  • Pay on Commissioning (Flying Officer): ₹56,100 – ₹1,77,500 (Level 10)
  • Military Service Pay (MSP): ₹15,500
  • Stipend During Training: ₹56,100/month
  • Additional Benefits: Furnished accommodation, medical facilities, canteen access, LTC, subsidized loans, ₹1.25 Cr Insurance cover, adventure sports, and more.

Type of Commission:

  • Short Service Commission (SSC):
  •  Flying: 14 years
  • Ground Duty: 10 years (extendable by 4)
  • Permanent Commission (PC): Based on merit, service needs & availability (for eligible male candidates)

Selection Process:

1. Online AFCAT Exam

2. AFSB Interview

3. Physical Fitness (1.6 km run, push-ups, chin-ups)

4. Medical Test

5. Final Merit List

Training Duration:

  •  Flying & Tech: 62 weeks
  •  Non-Tech: 52 weeks

3. Choose between AFCAT Entry or NCC Special Entry

4. Fill application carefully.

5. Upload required documents.

6. Pay the fee (if applicable) and submit.

Application Fee:

  • AFCAT Entry: ₹550 + GST (Non-refundable)
  • NCC Special Entry: No Fee

Travel Allowance (TA)

  • First-time AFSB attendees get AC-3 Tier/Bus fare reimbursement (conditions apply)
