दूल्हा दुल्हन शादी में 7 फेरे क्यो लेते है? ।। Why does the bride and groom take 7 rounds in marriage?

         Word's meaning

Marriage = Vi + Wah, so it literally means - to bear the particular (responsibility).  The Panigrahan ceremony is commonly known as Hindu marriage.  In other religions, marriage is a type of agreement between husband and wife, which can also be broken under special circumstances, but Hindu marriage is a relationship of birth between husband and wife, which cannot be broken under any circumstances.  .

By taking seven rounds of fire and considering the pole star as a witness, two bodies, mind and soul are bound in a sacred bond.  In Hindu marriage, there is more spiritual connection between husband and wife than physical relationship and this relationship is considered very sacred.

 Seven rounds and seven words

Marriage is such an occasion when the life of two human beings as well as two families also changes completely.  There is also a trend of seven rounds in the traditions of marriage in Indian marriage.  Which is the main ritual.  According to Hindu religion, the marriage ceremony is completed only after seven rounds.

In seven rounds, seven vows are taken from both the bride and the groom.  These seven rounds bind the relationship of husband and wife for seven births.  Under Hindu marriage rituals, the bride and groom take a vow to live a happy life together as husband and wife by taking fire as a witness and walking around it, and in the process both take seven rounds, which is also called Saptapadi.  And these seven rounds or verses are taken with seven words.  Every round has a promise, which husband and wife promise to keep together for life.  These seven rounds are the main pillar of stability of Hindu marriage.

 Seven words of seven rounds

After marriage, the girl takes seven vows from the groom before sitting on the left side.  The seven vows to be taken by the bride from the groom are as follows.

 first word

Tirthavrtodyapan Yagyakarma Maya Sahaiva Priyavayam Kurya:,

Vamangamayami tada tvadiyam braviti sentence Pratham Kumari !!

(Here the girl tells the groom that if you ever go on a pilgrimage, take me with you too. If you do any fasting or any other religious work, then like today, give me a place in your left part. If you accept it  If you do, then I accept to come to your Vamang.)

For the fulfillment of any kind of religious functions, it is considered necessary to have a wife along with the husband.  The rituals which are performed by husband and wife together are pleasantly fruitful.  Through this word by the wife, the participation of the wife in religious works, its importance has been clarified.

 second word

Pujyo yath swau patrau mamapi and the devotee's nijkarma kurya:,

Vamangamayami tada tvadiyam braviti kanya vachanam dvitim !!

(The girl asks for another promise from the bridegroom that just as you respect your parents, respect my parents in the same way and remain a devotee of God while performing religious rituals according to the limits of the family, then I will come to your Vamang.  I accept.)

Here the vision of the girl is realized through this word.  Today, the time and the thinking of the people have become such that it is usually seen that when any kind of mutual dispute arises in the household, the husband either reduces the relation with his wife's family or  terminates.  Keeping the above promise in mind, the bridegroom must consider for good behavior with his in-laws.

 third word

jeevanam vathatraye mama palanam kuryat,

Vamangyami tada tvadiyam braviti kanya vachanam trityam !!

(In the third verse, the girl says that you give me a promise that you will follow me in all the three stages of life (youth, adulthood, old age), then only I am ready to come to your Vamanga.)

 fourth verse

 Family life

Vamangamayami tada tvadiyam braviti kanya vachanam Chaturth !!

(Virgo fourth verse demands that till now you were completely free from the worries of the family. Now that you are going to get married, the responsibility of fulfilling all the needs of the family in future is on your shoulders.  If you promise to bear this burden, then only I can come to your Vamang.)

In this verse, the girl draws the groom to his responsibilities in the future.  Sufficient money is required for family nutrition after marriage.  Now if the husband is completely dependent on the father regarding money, then how will the household run well in such a situation.  Therefore, the girl wants her husband to be completely independent and be able to fulfill his family needs financially.  It has also been clarified by this verse that a son should be married only when he is standing on his own feet, earning sufficient amount of money.

 fifth word

Swasadyakare, behaviorkarmanye expenditure, mamapi mantrayetha,

Vamangamayami tada tvadiyam brute vacha: Panchmatra girl !!

(What the girl says in this verse is very important in today's context. She says that if you take my advice while spending in your household work, marriage, transaction or any other, then I will give your advice.  I agree to come to Vamang.)

This verse completely outlines the rights of the wife.  Many people do not consider it necessary to consult their wife in any kind of work.  Now if the wife is consulted before doing any work, then it not only increases the respect of the wife, but also gives a feeling of satisfaction towards her rights.

wedding sixth verse

Na mepamanam savidhe sakhinaam dyutna va durvyasanam bhanjscheta,

Vamamgmayami tada tvadiyam braviti kanya vachanam cha sixthm !!

(The girl says that if I am sitting among my friends or other women, then you will not insult me there in front of everyone for any reason.  I agree to come to Vamang.)

In the present context, this verse contains serious meaning.  After marriage, the behavior of some men starts changing.  They scold the wife in front of everyone on the slightest thing.  How much would the wife's heart be hurt by such behavior.  Here the wife wants that, of course, in solitude, the husband scolds her as she pleases, but her honor should be protected in front of everyone, as well as she should not destroy her household life by getting caught in any addiction.

 seventh verse

Parastriyam matrisam samykshya sneham sada chenmayi kanta kurya,

Vamangamayami tada tvadiyam brute vacha: Seventh mother girl !!

(As the last promise, the girl asks for this boon that you will consider foreign women like mothers and do not make anyone a partner between the mutual love of husband and wife. If you give this promise to me, then I will accept to come to your Vamang.  I do.)
